Day 118 Rainbow...all the way

Beautiful rainbow during Pete's soccer game. At one point it was a full rainbow in a perfect arc across the sky. And for a few seconds it was a double-rainbow...a double-rainbow all the wayyyyyy.

Day 109 Town'speople

We moved in next to Alice and her husband "Town" when we bought our house almost 6 years ago. Town lived in that house his whole life...he was born there, and later bought it from his father and raised his own family in it with Alice.
Town passed away about 3 years ago, and Alice just sold the house and moved.
Town was well known in Ridgewood for having built a very large (20' x 20') train set and miniature village in their living room. He spent years building everything by hand. There were thousands of people in his village, all hand-painted by him.
After we first moved in, Pete went over to visit, and Town gave him a few of those people.
I just found them.
Here are two of them.

I think it's fitting that on this day I'm showing soccer pictures.
I really like taking pictures of soccer - and especially Pete playing soccer. I don't want to get too sentimental here, but I really wish my dad could have seen Pete play at this level. He would have really enjoyed it. I know I do...

Day 99 Sports Saturday

I took pictures of girl's lacrosse today. First time. If you are going to watch girl's High School lacrosse I guess you're lucky if you get to see the top two teams in the state play. Ridgewood (1) vs. Moorestown (2). Ridgewood won 10-8.
Pete's soccer team had a game as well. This was one of my better shots from that game.

Musical Interlude

The Decemberists

I'm not sure who told me about The Decemberists, but I went and downloaded 4 of their albums having never heard anything by them.

Their music is kind of folksy. Their albums and songs tend to tell stories. They have great voices, and overall are very together as a band.

Castaways and Cutouts - 2002

I started chronologically, playing the oldest album first: Castaways and Cutouts. My favorite song on this album is California One/Youth and Beauty Brigade. Listen to this song an you may just get sold on the band.

5 Songs - 2003

Next was 5 Songs. Despite the name, there are actually 6 songs on the album. Oceanside and My Mother Was a chines Trapeze Artist are two of my favorites from this one.

Her Majesty the Decemberists - 2003

The third album I listened to was Her Majesty the Decemberists. The songs I liked from this album were: The Gymnast, High Above the Ground, The Bachelor and the Bride and I Was Meant For the Stage.

Picaresque - 2005

Last was the album Picaresque. I like most of the songs on this album. As with many albums and artists, the more you listen, the more you like.










Try this band out. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
