Water Droplet (June, 2009) |
Since I already have a lot of music, I'm interested in branching out and trying new things.
I would love to get some suggestions from people for new artists and bands to listen to.
Interspersed with my photographs, I'll post my own feedback on music that I download and listen to.
Some of these will be new (to me at least) bands, and some may be older albums from established artists that I just never got around to listening to.
If you do have any recommendations, just leave a comment on this or any future entry on my blog. I'll read and post all comments.
When I do post feedback for music, I'll make sure I give credit to the person who suggested it.
Also, I am not knowledgeable enough to give the kind of full-on music review that would include historical references, who the band is reminiscent of, where their sound seems to originate from, or even what kind of music they are playing (rock, indie rock, punk, whatever).
I'm really just going to be giving my honest feedback, and ultimately whether I would recommend this band or artist.
That's it.
Some people will agree with me, some won't. That's fine.
To get this started, I have some feedback on a band that was recommended to me by Pete. He has suggested a few bands over the past couple of weeks, and I've really liked all of them.
Today I'll be talking about:
Band of Horses

Everything All the Time, 2006 |
- They are an indie rock band out of Seattle, formed in 2004.
- They currently have three albums: Everything All The Time(2006), Cease To Begin(2007), Infinite Arms(2010)
- Songs you may have heard of: The Funeral, Is There a Ghost, No One's Gonna Love you.
Since I enjoyed this album so much, I got the other two and started listening to all three in succession - a lot. They are all very good. The kind of music you can have on in the background and it doesn't demand that you pay attention. It's there, and the music and lyrics just work together.
If you do want to check them out, start with their first album. It's what got me hooked.
Don't forget to post a comment with your recommendations - or your own feedback on music I talk about.
Thanks,
Paul
Band of Horses is one of Ali's favorite bands. Do you have to end up liking all/most of the music of these artists, or will a song or two do?Here are my faves. I haven't listened to the entire body of work for any of them. You have more patience than I do.
