So it's Parker's turn for her moment in the spotlight.
I've been thinking of photographing her in our bathroom, which has a black and white tiled floor, and decided that today was the day.
The word that best describes Parker is skittish...she's just never relaxed.
The first picture illustrates that best - looking worried and in motion.
When she does sit still, she is very pretty, but laser-focused.

At a soccer tournament with Pete today.

Day 53
Seriously Killer Icicles
Ok, took this picture this morning, while it was still 25º out, but the sun was just beating on these icicles.
They were struggling (in their noble icicle way) to stay frozen, but the sun just wasn't having any of that.
Melt away valiant spears of frozen water...melt away.

Day 52
Don't Judge
This is the "in-process" shot of a really good dish Laurie made tonight - Cuban beans and rice. There's no beans or rice in this picture. They were added later and then the whole thing was baked in the oven.
This is the bacon and peppers that were being sauteed and smelling just wonderful, and that drew me into the kitchen.
I really love bacon (and beans and rice).

Musical Interlude
| Water Droplet (June, 2009) |
Since I already have a lot of music, I'm interested in branching out and trying new things.
I would love to get some suggestions from people for new artists and bands to listen to.
Interspersed with my photographs, I'll post my own feedback on music that I download and listen to.
Some of these will be new (to me at least) bands, and some may be older albums from established artists that I just never got around to listening to.
If you do have any recommendations, just leave a comment on this or any future entry on my blog. I'll read and post all comments.
When I do post feedback for music, I'll make sure I give credit to the person who suggested it.
Also, I am not knowledgeable enough to give the kind of full-on music review that would include historical references, who the band is reminiscent of, where their sound seems to originate from, or even what kind of music they are playing (rock, indie rock, punk, whatever).
I'm really just going to be giving my honest feedback, and ultimately whether I would recommend this band or artist.
That's it.
Some people will agree with me, some won't. That's fine.
To get this started, I have some feedback on a band that was recommended to me by Pete. He has suggested a few bands over the past couple of weeks, and I've really liked all of them.
Today I'll be talking about:
Band of Horses
![]() |
| Everything All the Time, 2006 |
- They are an indie rock band out of Seattle, formed in 2004.
- They currently have three albums: Everything All The Time(2006), Cease To Begin(2007), Infinite Arms(2010)
- Songs you may have heard of: The Funeral, Is There a Ghost, No One's Gonna Love you.
Since I enjoyed this album so much, I got the other two and started listening to all three in succession - a lot. They are all very good. The kind of music you can have on in the background and it doesn't demand that you pay attention. It's there, and the music and lyrics just work together.
If you do want to check them out, start with their first album. It's what got me hooked.
Don't forget to post a comment with your recommendations - or your own feedback on music I talk about.
Thanks,
Paul

It's one of the musicians from Jamboree.
Great band.

More Bella
Here's another picture of Bella.
She likes to sit next to me in the kitchen.
I would call that "gazing", wouldn't you?
She does that...

Day 46
Bella
Bella, our 3rd cat, is Parker's sister (at least that's what the people at PetSmart said in order to get Laurie to take both of them when she only went to get ONE kitten five years ago).
Bella is a complicated cat. In fact we believe she may be autistic. But we love her.
And we think she loves us. Actually, she only loves me and Pete - she's more attached to males than females.
Anyway, since she's a complicated cat, she needs more than one picture to try to capture her essence. I don't think I've captured it yet, but she was so very relaxed in the sunshine today...

The King
Milo. Our only male pet.
In our house with two (crazy) sister cats Parker and Bella, and our amazing chocolate lab, Zoe.
Milo gets along with Zoe just fine, but really can't abide Parker and Bella.
That's ok - he's the king.
